Questions & Answers:
What is your vision?
Our vision is to achieve leadership of the global tobacco industry in order to create long term shareholder value. Leadership is not an end in itself, but a company that leads its industry, is the preferred partner for key stakeholders and is seen to have a sustainable business, should be valued more highly. How secure is your Group’s future?
We are looking ahead with confidence and we are not alone in believing that we have a strong and secure future. Hundreds of millions of adults around the world choose to be tobacco consumers today. We expect that many people in the future will choose not to consume tobacco, will use less or will quit, but widely accepted forecasts indicate that the worldwide tobacco market will remain large, at more than one billion consumers. We have confidence in our strategy and expect to continue growing and increasing our market and revenue share through our brand portfolio, geographic spread and management and financial strength. How can you justify selling a product that is harmful to people’s health?
Cigarettes are a lawful consumer product enjoyed by about one billion adults world wide. We believe in individual choice and support the right of adults, informed of the health risks from smoking, to decide to smoke or not. We believe that an informed adult decision to enjoy the pleasures of smoking, while balancing the pleasures against the risks, is no more for criticism than many other lifestyle choices we all make. We understand the concerns about the products that we make and are working hard to conduct our business responsibly, in an industry seen by many as controversial. We share the desire of the public health community to reduce the health impact of smoking and are committed to working with others to try to do that.Questions & Answers:
